Love Eternal
It is the forever that we promise each other,
The better that we barter with ourselves,
The promise of a timeless, endless love,
One that tethers our broken hearts together,
Eternities of different lengths,
From perspectives that diverge,
Then converge upon each other,
With less than air between us,
Daring to be found out,
Caring and willing to go without,
Meager crumbs of consideration,
From another.
Because this is the end,
The final and ultimate love,
For us,
And we dare because,
This, we know is righteous,
Therefore, our souls soar above,
The curse of having known,
A love such as this,
That it exists,
Stronger than,
Imagined and discernable things,
That feigned loves crumble from,
The weight of this,
Being the reason for which,
Weaker dreams fail,
The pressure to which,
Lesser loves succumb.
And we hold firmly to each other,
Protecting the vulnerable center,
Of our simpler selves,
Braving the storms that only heaven knows,
Will yield even an hour of bliss,
A moment of perfect, a second of forever,
Of this, our perfect gift,
Granted by chance,
And under grand majesty’s cover,
This epic of time and space,
This dream, this romance,
Constructed of all that we have lost,
Wrapped in limbs that promise the stars,
That guard, that cause,
The pains of broken promises,
To drift far from us,
In the name of love.
