They Used to Be Blank Spaces

These blank spaces feel like

incompletions as I turn back to where

they linger like gatherings of spectators,

whispering in a loose crowd about

what has taken place around them,

not contributing, not hindering,

just emptiness, taking up space,

crowds of nothingness,

now erased.
